Abstract:
The problem in this research is that there is no adequate information related to the social competence of English student teachers. This study aims to increase the reader's insight regarding the perception of school personnel on the social competence of English student teachers at SMPN 1, SMPN 3, and SMPN 4 Batusangkar in the 2019/2020 school year. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with cross sectional design. The population were school personnel consisting of principals, supervising teachers, teachers, administrative staff, and school guard totaling 117 people. The sample was 54 people who were selected using the Simple Random Sampling. Technique of data collection was questionnaire. The data analyzed by descriptive analysis. As the result, school personnel's perception on English student teachers' social competence during pre-service teaching was moderate (48.14%). For headmaster perception was high (50%), supervising teachers perception was high (33.3%), the teachers perception was moderate (51.16%), administrative staffs perception was high (33.3)%, and school guard perception was low (50%).
