Abstract:
This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the Running Dictation strategy applied by teachers in teaching at SMP IT Darul Hikmah Pasaman Barat for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is a quantitative descriptive study, using a cross sectional design. The population in this study were students of class VII SMP IT Darul Hikmah, amounting to 65 people. In this study, researchers used a total sampling technique. In data collection, the instrument used was a questionnaire about students' perceptions of the implementation of the running dictation strategy by the English teacher. The results of the validation of this instrument in general are in the range of 61.0% - 80.9%, from the results of the validation of this instrument it is feasible to use and make slight revisions. After that, the researcher distributed the instruments to the research sample to be filled. The results showed that the students' perception of the Running Dictation strategy applied by the teacher in teaching was strongly positive (very positive) with a percentage of 89.23% and an average of 211.05. When viewed from each aspect, students' perceptions of the Running Dictation strategy applied by the teacher in teaching, on the cognitive aspect lies in the category of strongly positive (very positive) with a percentage of 84.61% and an average of 127.43, on the affective aspect lies in the category of strongly positive (very positive) with a percentage of 84.61% and an average of 41.9, in the conative aspect it lies in the category of strongly positive (very positive) with a percentage of 87.69% and an average of 41.71. Of the three aspects of perception, it is more dominant to strongly positive. Based on the results of this study, the Running Dictation strategy is recommended to be used at SMPIT Darul Hikmah West Pasaman
