ABSTRACT SABITA FIDINILLAH, NIM.1830104070, Title Thesis : Students' Perceptions on The English Teachers Performance in Performing Online Learning (A Case Study of the English Teachers of Madrasah Aliyah Country in Tanah Datar Regency) English Teaching Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training , IAIN Batusangkar . This research was motivated by the change in the learning system from offline to online which aims to break the chain of Covid-19 spread. As we know, online learning is a something new in the world of education. For this reason, researcher are interested in examining how students perceptions on the English teachers performance in performing online learning. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out how students perceptions on the English teachers performance in performing online learning. This study used is quantitative method in the form of descriptive. The population in this study were all students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri in Tanah Datar Regency who studied English with an online learning system and their English teachers were alumni of IAIN Batusangkar, totaling 283 students. The sample used in this study was 166 students who were selected using the Cluster Sampling technique. The instrument used by researcher to obtain data is using a questionnaire which consists of 50 closed-ended questions. Before being used, the validity of the questionnaire was tested first by doing a try out. Then, from the results of the try out, it was found that for the student perception questionnaire there were 33 valid items, 17 items were revised from the existing 50 items. The reliability of the questionnaire is 0.932 which is at a good level of reliability. After testing the validity and reliability, the revised questionnaire was then distributed to the research samples. The answers from the sample are then entered into the tabulation table and the researcher calculates the frequency of the student's answer scores. Then the researcher conducted a descriptive analysis of the scores that had been obtained from the questionnaire. Furthermore, the researcher categorize students' perceptions on the English teachers perfromance in performing online learning. The results of this study,is one hundred and four students (62.66%) have a very positive perception on the English teacher in performance in performing online learning.
