Abstract:
The problem of this research was obstacles or problems that occur in English teachers when teaching online. The purpose of this research was to describe and find out the problems faced by English teachers in teaching English online at public junior high schools in Batusangkar. The research design was a cross sectional with method qualitative. The data were teachers’ utterances consisting of problems in teaching online. Interviews were conducted with 5 English teacher informants who teach at public junior high schools in Batusangkar. The results showed that there were 8 problems faced by English teachers when teaching online, namely; 1) Inadequate learning support facilities, 2) Low economic factor, 3) Areas with unsupported internet signal, 4) Lack of discipline and responsibility in time management, 5) High Expectation od students, 6) Limited by distance, 7) Policies that have a negative impact on education, and 8) Lack of control from parents.
